The grand opening of a new Midvale Senior Center was celebrated Wednesday with a pair of mayors, JoAnn Seghini from Midvale and Salt Lake County's Ben McAdams, cutting a ceremonial ribbon at the expanded facility at 7550 S. Main St. The valley's changing demographics have made Midvale a natural location to make more services available for aging residents, county officials have said, so they broke ground in spring 2014 on a project to expand the old senior center, which occupied about 3,500 square feet, with a 20,000-square-foot building. The center operates weekdays from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
