Pioneer Day activities are now in full swing. Whether it's a parade, rodeo, live music or fireworks, you'll find several ways to celebrate the state's pioneer heritage in the following list.


Days of '47 K Rodeo

The Komatsu Equipment Rodeo is a Days of '47 tradition.

Youth Pioneer Production

Merrill Osmond presents the Youth Pioneer Production, which includes a cast of more than 150 children who through dance and music depict the journey of the Mormon pioneers.

Sunrise Service

The Sons of Utah Pioneers hold Sunrise Service. The program features a Tabernacle organist and combined choirs from around the valley.

Days of '47 Parade

The Days of '47 parade is one of the largest and oldest in the United States. The route starts at South Temple and State Street. It runs east to 200 East, turns south to 900 South, then turns east to Liberty Park at 600 East. It will be televised by KSL TV.

Native American Celebration

Liberty Park will host American Indian music, dancing, food and artwork. Fireworks at dusk.

Pioneer Days at This Is the Place

Pioneer Days at This Is the Place Heritage Park includes a watermelon-eating contest, train-robbery re-enactment, parade, candy cannon and children's games.

Butlerville Days

Cottonwood Heights Butler Days includes a 5K Run/Walk at 7 a.m., parade at 3 p.m.; midway rides, children's activities, car show and fireworks.

'Celebrating the People' in South Jordan

The 4th annual "Celebrating the People" Powwow, celebrates Native American culture with food, drumming, traditional dance and a princess pageant.

MX Pioneer Day Extravaganza

Rocky Mountain Raceways hosts a daylong event that features motocross races followed by fireworks.

Salt Lake Bees vs El Paso

The Salt Lake Bees will play El Paso. Fireworks after the game.

Food, games, music and a view of the Liberty Park fireworks . X96 will broadcast live.

Bountiful Handcart Days

Bountiful celebrates with games, food and entertainment in the park. The Handcart Days parade is Thursday at 6 p.m., followed by fireworks at Mueller Park Junior High at dusk.

Kaysville Breakfast

Kaysville City will hold a breakfast to benefit the Recreation Department.

Antelope Island Celebration

The Fielding Garr Ranch offers games from 10 a.m. to noon and guided tours from 3-4 p.m. A 1 p.m. lecture will talk about Antelope Island's pioneers. Also at 1 p.m., park rangers will share the story behind Antelope Island's scenery followed by a short hike to get a closer look at the rocks and other effects. Tooele Celebration

Spanish Fork Fiesta Days

Spanish Fork celebrates with a 10K run (6:30 a.m.), breakfast (7-9 a.m.), craft fair, grand parade (9 a.m), quilt show, rodeo and fireworks. Visit

Mapleton celebrations

Holiday events in Mapleton start at 6:30 a.m. with a flag ceremony, followed by a 5K and fun run, and breakfast in the park. There's a 9 a.m. parade followed by activities, games and entertainment in the park and fireworks. Visit for details.
