WHY WE'RE WATCHING:To find out which of these neighborhood rivals will take the lead in the Region 6 standings

LAST MEETING: Highland def. East, 28-7, Sept. 17, 2004

East Leopards

COACH: Aaron Whitehead (3rd year)

RECORD:3-1

OFFENSIVE STARS: QB Mitch Curtis, OL Moroni Ngata, RB Jake Cook, WR Chad Baucom

DEFENSIVE STARS: CB Sam Baldwin, LB Paul Tuakalou, LB Kel Moteliki, DL Siale Angilau

SCOUTING REPORT:

The Leopards were picked to finish in the middle of Region 6, but have looked more like a league contender. QB Mitch Curtis leads a talented offense and can beat teams with his arm and feet. East's defense can dominate, as it held Northridge to three points, shut out West and kept Provo scoreless in the second half.

RECORD: 3-1

OFFENSIVE STARS: QB Thomas Bradley, WB Sam Bergen, WR Jake Orchard

DEFENSIVE STARS: DE David Nafe, LB David Fargargren, LB Lopeti Ofa, DB Brett Smith

Few expected Highland's offensive production to come anywhere near last year's team. But the Rams' offense might actually be better this year. QB Thomas Bradley is the team's toughest runner, and he also has a strong and accurate arm. Judge transfer Les Brown and West transfer Lopeti Ofa have been nice additions.
