Trevor Booker
6-8, 228 pounds
Age: 27
Year: 6th
What he brings: On a team of nice guys, Booker might be the closest thing to an enforcer. He's already been suspended one game for a preseason slap on Lakers center Roy Hibbert. When he returns to the court, Booker will be a spark plug off the bench, providing hustle and muscle.
Trey Burke
6-1, 191 pounds
Age: 22
Year: 3rd
What he brings: College basketball's player of the year in 2013 has been inconsistent over two NBA seasons. At his best, Burke is the Jazz's best offensive weapon at point guard and a smooth operate in the clutch. At his worst, he's a chucker with little conscience, who can shoot the Jazz out of games. But facing a pivotal year, Burke says he's as focused as he's ever been.
Alec Burks
6-6, 214 pounds
Age: 24
Year: 5th
What he brings: He's a dynamic slasher, with a penchant for dramatic finishes at the rim and earning frequent trips to the free throw line. After missing most of last year with a shoulder injury, Burks is as healthy as he's been in years and could be the Jazz's X-factor this season.
Danté Exum
6-6, 190 pounds
Age: 20
Year: 2nd
What he brings: Wistfulness and some hope for the future. But after tearing his ACL during the summer, the young Aussie phenom won't be helping the Jazz on the court this season. See you in 2016, Danté.
Derrick Favors
6-10, 264 pounds
Age: 24
Year: 6th
What he brings: Still young enough to get dinged while renting a car, Favors is already the Jazz's veteran presence in the post. The prize piece of the Deron Williams trade has come into his own in Utah, averaging 16 points and 8 rebounds a game last season, and he expects bigger and better things of himself this season.
Rudy Gobert
7-1, 245 pounds
Age: 23
Year: 3rd
What he brings: Only New Orleans superstar Anthony Davis blocked more shots last season (200) than Utah's Stifle Tower (189). But Gobert did it while having to wait more than half the year to become a starter. Out of the gate, he'll be a favorite to win the Defensive Player of the Year award.
Gordon Hayward
6-8, 226 pounds
Age: 25
Year: 6th
What he brings: Was that max contract worth it? It's not even a question after Hayward put together a career year last season, averaging better than 19 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists a game. He's one of the league's best playmaking wings and Utah's best late-game option. He'll be absolutely key to the Jazz's playoff hopes.
Rodney Hood
6-8, 206 pounds
Age: 23
Year: 2nd
What he brings: The Jazz were elated during last year's draft when Hood slipped to them at No. 23. He's a big guard, with a sweet lefty stroke, and should be the anchor of the Jazz's second unit. The question will be whether Hood, who missed more than 30 games last season with various injuries, can stay healthy.
Joe Ingles
6-8, 226 pounds
Age: 28
Year: 2nd
What he brings: A veteran of the Euroleague, Ingles has a savvy beyond most players coming off their rookie NBA season. He's a creative passer and has been one of the Jazz's best three-point shooters during the preseason. Utah needs a little punch off the bench, so Jazz officials would love to see that carry over into the regular season.
Trey Lyles
6-10, 234 pounds
Age: 19
Year: 1st
What he brings: The 12th overall pick in the June draft likely won't be called upon to play heavy minutes this season. But the rookie's savvy and playmaking abilities at the four-spot make him a nice project going forward. The Jazz believe the Kentucky product will one day be a 6-foot-10 three-point threat with a nice ability to beat slower defenders off the dribble.
Elijah Millsap
6-6, 225 pounds
Age: 28
Year: 2nd
What he brings: Paul's little brother is a tenacious defender, who will be called upon to disrupt guards and forwards alike. He's worked this summer to improve his three-point shooting from the corner. But he'll need to be a better decision maker and less prone to turnovers to earn heavy minutes.
Raul Neto
6-1, 179 pounds
Age: 23
Year: 1st
What he brings: The Brazilian point guard is a creative passer who knows how to run an offense. And so far in his NBA career, he's been a pleasant surprise on defense, picking up opposing guards in the backcourt and pestering opponents into turnovers. Neto, however, has yet to be tested against regular-season NBA competition and must become a real shooting threat to be truly effective on the court.
Tibor Pleiss
7-3, 256 pounds
Age: 25
Year: 1st
What he brings: The German center has the rare ability to make Rudy Gobert look relatively small. After spending a few years in Spain seasoning his game, the Jazz hope Pleiss will be ready to become an offensive threat in the NBA, with a nice touch, good range and the ability to finish in the pick-and-roll. So far, however, he's looked a little overmatched against NBA strength.
Jeff Withey
7-0, 231 pounds
Age: 25
Year: 3rd
What he brings: Withey signed a deal with the Jazz late in the summer, knowing he'd have to earn his spot on the roster. At the moment, he might be ahead of Pleiss in the race to backup Gobert. Withey's offense won't blow anyone away, but the Kansas product is a defensive-minded shot blocker who could help fill the void in the paint this when Gobert needs a rest.
Chris Johnson
6-6, 206 pounds
Age: 25
Year: 4th
What he brings: The journeyman swingman player was a D-League call-up last season for the Jazz. His length, especially his uber-long wingspan, makes him an intriguing prospect on the wing, especially if he can learn to consistently knock down the corner-three. But with a non-guaranteed contract, he's still in a fight for one of the Jazz's final roster spots.
