A woman was taken to the hospital with a dirt bike handlebar lodged in her leg Thursday morning.

The 22-year-old Iowa woman lost control of her dirt bike as she attempted to go over a homemade jump in a backyard near Lake Point Road in Tooele, said Tooele County Sheriff's Lt. Travis Scharmann. She landed underneath the dirt bike as her leg was impaled by the handlebar.

Unable to dislodge the handlebar, officers from the Tooele County Sheriff's office were forced to cut it off the bike. The woman was then taken to the Intermountain Medical Center in Murray with the handlebar still in her leg, according to Scharmann.

"I have not seen something like that before," said Scharmann.

By Thursday afternoon, she was still in the hospital, where the handlebar was to be surgically removed, according to Scharmann.
