Whether you're looking for an elegant ball or a quiet meal in the mountains, both types of celebrations — and everything in between— is being offered on Thursday for New Year's Eve.

12 grapes • Finca will honor the Spanish New Year's tradition of eating 12 grapes at midnight, with a six-course menu, each one incorporating grapes. Optional grape-based libations also available. Affordable Park City • The Eating Establishment is offering a surf-and-turf dinner for two for $59.99. Meal includes filet mignon and lobster tail with potatoes, sautéed vegetables and chocolate cake. Vegetarian option also available. Ballet benefit • Ballet West and Culinary Crafts catering have joined forces for a elegant black-tie party, which begins at 7 p.m. in the Rice Eccles Tower at the University of Utah. Guests will enjoy a 10-course meal followed by dancing, fireworks and a midnight toast. Tickets are $200 per person; optional cocktails and wine pairings are an additional $50. Cocktail culture • The cocktail menu at Under Current includes more than four dozen cocktails from classics to house originals. On Dec. 31, the Salt Lake City bar will offer all those selections as well as sparkling wine cocktails, small-bite specials and music. Masquerade ball • The elegant masquerade ball, sponsored by Big Easy Entertainment, includes a buffet dinner, live music, party favors, Champagne toast at midnight and a contest for the best mask. New Year with Niche • Caffé Niche will offer a five-course dinner from 5 to 10 p.m. Menu highlights include crab-stuffed salmon, pork tenderloin medallions and coffee-rubbed filet mignon. Roaring '20s in Ogden • Flappers, fellas and silent film stars are part of Zucca Trattoria's Prohibition-themed party. Cost is $80 per person, optional wine pairings are an additional $40.
