A Millcreek man missing since Friday night was found dead in a backyard near his home.

Detective Jared Richardson of the Unified Police Department said the body of Mark Allen Miller was found at about 1:30 p.m. Saturday near 3600 South and Christine Street (about 1050 East).

An autopsy will be done to confirm cause of death, Richardson said.

Miller, 62, was last seen about 8 p.m. Friday at his residence near 3600 South and 900 East. He had been going through alcohol-withdrawal symptoms and suffered a head injury in a fall on Thursday, according to a UPD news release.

Video surveillance footage from the Granite Credit Union at 3650 S. 900 East showed that Miller, 62, was wearing jeans and a T-shirt in the frigid weather.

Numerous officers and Salt Lake County Search and Rescue personnel had begun searching on Friday night with the assistance of police dogs and a Utah Department of Public Safety helicopter.
