"Ali & Nino," about a romance between a Muslim prince (Adam Bakri) and a Christian aristocrat (Maria Valverde) in the oil-rich capital of Azerbaijan set at the start of World War I, made its premiere Wednesday at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival in Park City. Directed by Asif Kapadia ("Senna," SFF '11), the film is part of the Premieres program. Christopher Hampton adapted Kurban Said's novel; Mandy Patinkin, Connie Nielsen, Riccardo Scamarcio and Homayoun Ershadi also star.
