Police chased down and arrested three male suspects after gunfire at Salt Lake City's Liberty Park on Sunday, but only one of them ended up behind bars.

Salt Lake City police Sgt. Robin Heiden said a 21-year-old man remained in the Salt Lake County jail Monday in lieu of almost $3,000 bail, booked on suspicion of third-degree felony counts of discharge of a firearm toward a person, possession of a firearm by a restricted person, and possession of narcotics with intent to distribute, as well as misdemeanor fleeing police.

A 23-year-old man was cited for possession of drugs, and the third suspect, 20, was released after questioning.

No one was injured by the gunshots reported fired at the park, crowded with visitors when the initial 911 report came in at 3:48 p.m. Sunday.

Heiden said when officers arrived at the park, witnesses told them they had chased the three suspects into a neighborhood west of the park. Officers soon located and arrested the 23- and 20-year-olds.

"The third suspect attempted to break containment but was captured near 1400 South and 500 East after a foot chase," Heiden said. "During the chase the suspect discarded a coat and a bag. The items were retrieved and contained a handgun and a large amount of illegal narcotics — mushrooms, marijuana and 'dab' [concentrated cannabis oil]."
