The Utah Symphony will give summer concerts in Salt Lake, Utah and Weber counties. The schedule includes performances at the Utah Arts Festival, Sundance and Snowbasin resorts, Thanksgiving Point and Red Butte Garden, as well as an evening in Abravanel Hall for the finals of the Gina Bachauer Young Artist Piano Competition. Guests include the trio GENTRI, cowboy singer-songwriter Michael Martin Murphey, Broadway's Doug LeBrecque and guitarist Pablo Villegas.

These concerts are in addition to the six-week Deer Valley Music Festival.

The first two performances — at the Gallivan Center and Taylorsville Dayzz — are free to the public. There will be a fundraising and clothing drive for The Road Home in connection with the Gallivan Center concert; the nonprofit social-services agency welcomes donations of summer clothes, hats, sunscreen, insect repellent, lip balm, water bottles and towels.

Guest conductor Jerry Steichen will lead the orchestra at Thanksgiving Point and Snowbasin; associate conductor Rei Hotoda will conduct all other performances.
