A 28-year-old man was shot in the shoulder Wednesday morning in a drive-by shooting in Salt Lake City, police say.

The man was walking with two other people near 750 N. 900 West when a vehicle pulled out of an apartment complex and someone fired "several" shots at about 9:40 a.m., said Salt Lake City police Detective Richard Chipping.

The victim was conscious when police arrived and taken to a local hospital for treatment, where he was expected to recover.

No arrests were immediately made. Police were looking for a man with light brown skin in a silver or gray Nissan, Chipping said. The vehicle was last seen heading north on 900 West.

Chipping said it was not clear whether the incident was gang-related. He said he was "hesitant" to connect it to a similar drive-by shooting Tuesday at 600 North and 1000 West that left a 16-year-old dead.
