In the moment a finish line is crossed and a dream is realized, a precious medal made of precious metal is the most cherished object any Olympian can imagine.

But as athletes age and new Olympians take center stage, where do gold, silver and bronze medals end up?

The Tribune interviewed three former Olympians living in Utah about where they store the medals they've won in Salt Lake, Vancouver and Sochi as the 2016 Games in Rio begin:
