A vehicle fire closed down a central Salt Lake City off-ramp from Interstate 15 Wednesday morning, but no injuries were reported.

Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Todd Royce said a Suzuki sedan rear-ended a Subaru Outback at 7:55 a.m. on northbound I-15 near the 9th South off-ramp. When the drivers exited to exchange information, the Outback began to smoke from its under-carriage, and then caught fire.

Salt Lake City firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze, but the off-ramp was shut down until 8:30 a.m. while the scene was cleared.

The cause of the crash remained under investigation.
