A bear cub is roaming near homes and a golf course in Spanish Fork, police say.

The cub was sighted in the eastern portion of River Bottom Road recently, according to a news release from Spanish Fork Police Department. Though the bear has not been aggressive, police advise people to be cautious and watch children and pets when in the area.

Officers and wildlife officials placed a live bear trap with the hopes of catching the cub and relocating it. They estimate that the bear is 12 to 18 months old.

Anyone with information on the cub's whereabouts is asked to call 801-804-4700.
