A 20-year-old Lehi man is dead after the trench he was working in collapsed in Saratoga Springs on Friday.
The man, identified as Yongwhan Kim, was working at a site at 1900 Centennial Blvd. to put in a new foundation for a home, along with another construction worker, according to Saratoga Springs police spokesman Owen Jackson.
The other worker, 21, dug the trench with a backhoe, Jackson said, and when it was finished, Kim jumped into the trench to work.
The backhoe operator left to work at another site for 10 to 15 minutes, Jackson said, and when he returned, he found the trench had collapsed and didn't see Kim. He started digging and found Kim's body in the collapsed trench about 2:30 p.m.
