Roy police are investigating the death of a 1-year-old girl as a possible child abuse case.

The baby was found unconscious Wednesday about 10:30 a.m. at a residence near 5000 South and 3100 West, according to a news release from the Roy Police Department.

The girl, who had "numerous visible injuries," was transported to a local hospital and later transferred to a Salt Lake City medical center where she died Thursday. Police did not release the nature of her injuries.

The case is under investigation, the release states, and no arrest has been made. The girl's name was not immediately released.
