Comedian and political commentator Bill Maher is hitting the road next year — with a stop in Salt Lake City.

He will perform Saturday, Feb. 11, at the Eccles Theater, 131 S. Main St., Salt Lake City.

Maher just finished the latest season of his HBO talk/commentary show "Real Time With Bill Maher," his perch for 14 years. One of the season highlights was landing an interview with President Barack Obama, whom he had lobbied for the show for years. On Sunday, Maher invited Donald Trump, whom he vehemently opposed, to be on his show.

Before that, Maher hosted "Politically Incorrect" on Comedy Central and ABC. He also starred in the 2008 docu-comedy "Religulous," a commentary on organized religion that included a scene of burly Mormon security guards escorting him from the grounds around Salt Lake City's Temple Square.

Tickets go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. at ArtSaltLake.org, by phone (801-355-2787) or at the Eccles Theater box office.
