American actor Carl Reiner, who once called snow "an unnecessary freezing of water," might not want to visit Salt Lake City this week.

Temperatures Saturday will hover in the mid-50s with a cool, brisk breeze bringing lows into the mid-30s. Rain showers will start about midnight, ushering in three snow-filled days for Salt Lake and Tooele valleys — with much rejoicing at ski resorts opening this weekend.

Utah's Dixie will see highs in the mid-60s Saturday with a chance for rain in the evening. Lows will hang in the 40s. St. George will then see rain for Sunday and Monday with clear skies returning Wednesday.
