Two early morning highway crashes in Tooele County on Saturday left two women and a man dead and a toddler in serious condition.

About 3:20 a.m., an SUV traveling west on Interstate 80 drifted to the right side of the road near mile marker 59, according to a news release from the Utah Highway Patrol. The driver then overcorrected to the left, crashing through the median and causing the vehicle to roll across the eastbound lanes.

A woman was ejected from the car and died at the scene. A second woman in the car was transported to the hospital, where she later died from her injuries. The women have been identified as Cristina Castro Salazar, 23, and Lashaey Wright, 24, according to Todd Gillis of the UHP.

A 3-year-old girl was also thrown from the car. She was transported to a Salt Lake City hospital and is listed in serious condition but is expected to survive. It was not immediately clear what her relation is to the women who died.

Two other passengers in the car were taken to the hospital with various injuries. Fatigue and alcohol are both being investigated as possible factors in the crash.

The second crash occurred about 4 a.m., also on I-80. A sport utility vehicle driving west veered off the road to the left near mile marker 70. The driver then swerved back onto the freeway before rolling off the right side of the road, the release states.

A male passenger, identified as 40-year-old Eddy Robles-Cordova, of West Valley City, was ejected from the car and died at the scene.

The other three passengers, who suffered various injuries, were also not wearing seat belts.

Police are investigating the role of speed and alcohol in the crash.
