The 2017 Sundance Film Festival starts in exactly six weeks — and between now and then, this blog will highlight one of the movies playing at the festival with our Trailer of the Day.

To start things off, here's the trailer for one of the Premieres titles: "Before I Fall."

This drama is based on Lauren Oliver's young-adult novel, centering on 17-year-old Samantha (Zoey Deutch), who is killed in a car accident. The story has Samantha reliving the last day of her life, over and over again, "Groundhog Day"-style — going to school, hanging out with her "Mean Girls" clique, going to a party, and making life miserable for the students outside her snobby circle.

The movie is directed by Ry Russo-Young, whose directorial debut "Nobody Walks" debuted at Sundance in 2012. The screenplay is by Maria Maggenti, who wrote and directed the 2006 Sundance lesbian rom-com "Puccini for Beginners."

The cast of "Before I Fall" includes Halston Sage, Logan Miller, Kian Lawley, Jennifer Beals, Diego Boneta and Elena Kampouris.

"Before I Fall" will have its world premiere in the Premieres section of the 2017 Sundance Film Festival, which runs Jan. 19-29 in Park City and at venues in Salt Lake City and the Sundance resort in Provo Canyon. The movie will be released nationwide by Open Road Films on March 3.
