Whether you're looking to ring in 2017 at noon or midnight Saturday, there's a host of ways to celebrate the new year. Here's a few events to choose from in Salt Lake City and beyond.

EVE WinterFest

Salt Lake City rings in 2017 with six days of music and culture as well as a countdown to midnight with the largest mirror ball in the U.S.

When • Through Saturday

Where • 15 venues in downtown Salt Lake City, including the Salt Palace Convention Center, Clark Planetarium, Off Broadway Theatre, Broadway Centre Cinemas, Discovery Gateway, The Leonardo, Gallivan Center, Temple Square, City Creek Center and UMOCA

Cost • An all-access pass — good for the entire six-day run — is $25 for those 10 and older, $15 for those ages 3 to 9. Get $5 off when you purchase tickets through America First Credit Union. Single-day passes are available for adults, $20, and children, $10.

EVE highlights • Events at the Salt Palace include the following:

Live music • Some of Utah's favorite Big Band musicians, including the award-winning Caleb Chapman's Crescent Super Band, will perform. Check eveslc.com for a full schedule. Today, 7 to 10 p.m., and Saturday, 7 to 11 p.m., on the Salt Palace Convention Center's Big Band Stage

Aesop's fables • Utah Children's Theatre will offer a lighthearted retelling of some of Aesop's favorite fables including "The Tortoise and the Hare," "The Ant and the Grasshopper" and "The Sun and the Wind." Today, 7 p.m., Saturday, 6 p.m.

World Stage • Performers include Zivio Ethnic Arts Ensemble, traditional Balkan music and dance; Rumba Libre Band, salsa and Latin jazz; Samba Fogo, Brazilian fire dancers; and Kenshin Taiko, Japanese drummers. Lounge scene • Adults 21 and older can enjoy wine and beer, including high-point offerings, in the Squatters Hop Rising Lounge inside the Salt Palace. Today, 6 to 10 p.m.; Saturday, 3 p.m. to midnight

Family activities • Favorites are back, including a GameRoom, filled with oversized games; the BounceTown inflatables; the BallRoom, with lights, music and beach balls; and the Crash Room, where guests practice their percussion skills on cans, lids, metal, plastic and wood. New this year will be an arcade with retro games like Pong and Missile Command, as well as "karaoke for a crowd" and glow-in-the-dark human bowling, with balls big enough to climb inside. Noon Year's Eve

No need to stay up late, ring in the new year at noon at the Natural History Museum of Utah annual Noon Year's Eve celebration, with music, a confetti-drop and family activities, plus regular museum attractions, including the "Power of Poison" special exhibition.

The first 1,000 children in the door will receive free Party Packs that include a noise maker, hat and a variety of celebratory toys. Hot chocolate and decorative cookies will be available for $3 each. And, visitors will receive a 10 percent discount at the Museum Store (museum members will receive 20 percent off store purchases).

Alan Cumming

The Scottish actor ("The Good Wife" on TV, "Cabaret" on Broadway) performs his musical act for New Year's Eve.

Cirque Dreams Holidaze

The circus/acrobat troupe Cirque Dreams presents its Christmas show, "Cirque Dreams Holidaze," featuring 20 acts by 30 artists from around the world.

The in-house chefs at The Leonardo are preparing a dinner experience with a four-course meal and live entertainment to help send off 2016 and toast to 2017. After the dinner, there will be a party with a DJ, live performances, dancing and drinks.
