Grand Forks, N.D. • Geno Crandall scored a career-high 31 points and the North Dakota men's basketball team handed Weber State its first Big Sky Conference loss, 83-77, Thursday night.

Quinton Hooker added 22 points for the Fighting Hawks (10-7, 5-2), who shot 78 percent (18 of 23) in the second half and were 8 of 8 from the free-throw line in the final minute to snap the Wildcats' seven-game winning streak.

Jeremy Senglin led Weber State (9-6, 4-1) with 24 points, including six 3-pointers.

Weber State led 40-35 at halftime and led by as many as nine before North Dakota took its first lead of the second half, 56-55, with 11 minutes remaining. Crandall had two baskets and Hooker one in a 6-0 run to lead 75-70 with a minute left with the Hawks making eight free throws without a miss from there.

Idaho 79, Southern Utah 67 • In Moscow, Idaho, Victor Sanders matched a career-high with 33 points to lead the Vandals (8-9, 3-3 Big Sky) over the Thunderbirds (4-15, 2-4), who have lost four straight.

Randy Onwuasor scored 27 points on 7-of-10 shooting and made four 3s for the Thunderbirds. John Marshall added 12 points.

The game was tied at 40 before the Vandals used a 20-9 run and led 60-49 with six minutes to play.

Men's volleyball

No. 3 BYU 3, No. 14 Cal State Northridge 1 • In Northridge, Calif., junior opposite Ben Patch had 16 kills and seven digs, helping the Cougars (5-1, 1-0 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation) rally for a 23-25, 25-20, 25-17, 25-15 victory over the Matadors (6-2, 1-2).

Leo Durkin led BYU with 44 assists, and Erik Sikes chipped in nine digs in his first match of the season.

Women's basketball

BYU 73, Pepperdine 47 • In Malibu, Calif., Makenzi Pulsipher scored 19 points and the Cougars (11-7, 5-2 WCC) made a season-high 14 3-pointers in the rout of the Waves (5-13, 3-4).

Idaho 85, Southern Utah 68 • In Cedar City, the Vandals (8-9, 3-3 Big Sky) defeated the Thunderbirds (5-12, 0-6). Jamie Smith scored 20 points to lead SUU.

Wrestling

Utah Valley 21, Cal State Bakersfield 17 • In Orem, Kimball Bastian pulled out the decisive match and Tanner Orndorff and Dustin Dennison aided with bonus-point wins in a non-conference victory over Pac-12 foe CSU Bakersfield.

With its third straight win, UVU improved to 4-2. —
