A look at three standout performers and three key numbers from Thursday's Day 2 of the Class 4A state wrestling meet at Utah Valley University.

Gavin Ayotte

The sophomore from Uintah won the 106-pound championship in his first trip to the state tournament. He finished the season with a record of 50-3.

Brandon Meikel

The Kearns senior earned some redemption with a 3-1 overtime victory at 120 to capture his second state title. He won a championship as a sophomore but was upset by a point in the semifinals last year at the hands of Wasatch sophomore Zak Kohler, who collected his second straight crown Thursday, this time at 132.

Corbin Smith

The Wasatch senior won his first state title in the final match of his high school career by a 9-5 decision, upsetting Payson senior Jed Loveless, who only had lost two matches this season entering the final.

The margin of victory for Maple Mountain junior Brandyn Van Tassell, who edged Payson junior Wyatt Monroe 2-1 for the crown in the 170 division.

The state team championships earned by Wasatch, which collected another gold trophy for the shelf Thursday for the third year in a row. The Wasps earned 262.5 points while second-place Payson finished with at 200. Uintah was a close third at 194.5.

The number of matches won by senior Shaun Stockwell of Corner Canyon during his undefeated season on the way to his state title at 285.
