For more than a century, The Salt Lake Tribune has been capturing Utah in photographs, from the snowcapped mountains and redrocks to festivals and football. Now we're showcasing homegrown views and people in Picturing Utah.

Each month, we'll select a topic, then dig through the newspaper and historical archives for the photographs, all of them capturing a moment in Utah history. The photos will be published in an online gallery at http://bit.ly/aSo2mO, while a handful of the images will also be published in our print edition.

Of course we're not the only ones who can take a great photo. So we're inviting readers to dig through their albums and send us personal photos that fit our monthly theme. This month: The Utah State Fair.

For our Oct. 4 Picturing Utah gallery, the topic is General Conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. E-mail shots to pixutah@sltrib.com
