Officials of Megaplex Theatres broke ground Thursday on the company's latest movie complex, a 14-screen theater in Centerville.

The new theater will be built on Parrish Lane, west of Interstate 15. It will accommodate up to 3,400 theatergoers, and include an IMAX large-format screen — the fourth in Utah, after the Clark Planetarium, Megaplex 17 at Jordan Commons and Megaplex 20 at The District (whose IMAX screen opens today).

Lt. Gov. Greg Bell and Centerville Mayor Ronald G. Russell attended the groundbreaking ceremony, along with Gail Miller and her son Greg Miller, owner and CEO, respectively, of the Larry H. Miller Group of Companies.

The theater is slated to open in October 2011.
