Check out this image, released today by Columbia Pictures, of Andrew Garfield in character (and in costume) in the upcoming reboot of the "Spider-Man" franchise. (Click on the thumbnail at left for the fuller picture.)

Garfield, who played Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin in "The Social Network," is portraying Peter Parker and his superhero alter ego in the film.

Also in the film are Emma Stone ("Easy A") as potential girlfriend Gwen Stacy, Sally Field as kindly Aunt May, Martin Sheen as Uncle Ben, and Rhys Ifans (from "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows") as the villain known as The Lizard. Mark Webb ("(500) Days of Summer") is directing.

The new "Spider-Man" movie will arrive in theaters in the summer of 2012.
