I bet most people at the Sundance Film Festival don't know that this week is also time for the LDS Film Festival. (For those outside of Utah, LDS stands for Latter-day Saints, more commonly known as Mormons.)

This weekend at the LDS Film Festival, Avalanche Studios will present the premiere of their documentary on Alex Boye (above). It will screen Saturday, January 29 at 10:30 am at the Scera Xango Grand Theatre in Orem, Utah.

A Q&A with the filmmakers will follow the screening.

"Alex Boye: Backstage Pass" is the life story of British singer Alex Boye. Once a European pop star as the front man for the boy band Awesome, Boye gave up his rock-star lifestyle for his faith.

This documentary tells his story of poverty, being homeless, his conversion to the LDS Church, and the path that led him to being one of the mostinfluential members of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. The Scera Xango Grand Theatre is located at 745 South State Street in Orem.

Tickets are $7 and available by calling 801-225-ARTS or online at
