Pitch made for USU veterinary program

A Vernal lawmaker and practicing veterinarian said Utah should act now on a proposal to establish a vet school at Utah State University.

"We have this window of opportunity so let's pursue it," Rep. John Mathis, R-Vernal, told the Higher Education Appropriations Subcommittee on Tuesday. The proposal, which has been endorsed by the state Board of Regents, would create a partnership with Washington State University. Students would complete half of the program at USU and the other half at Washington.
