Coach Tyrone Corbin's new contract with the Jazz is a two-year deal with a team option for a third season, the Salt Lake Tribune has learned.Corbin replaced Jerry Sloan on Feb. 10, when the veteran coach resigned after 23 seasons on the job.At the time, Jazz CEO Greg Miller said Corbin was not an interim coach and he would be given a contract beyond the 2010-11 season. The team announced Corbin had signed a "multi-year" deal on Wednesday.Financial terms of Corbin's contract aren't known. But Atlanta coach Larry Drew signed a three-year, $5 million deal and Chicago's Tom Thibodeau signed a three-year, $6.5 million deal before the start of the season.Like Corbin, both Drew and Thibodeau are long-time NBA assistants who are rookie head coaches.For Corbin, it's been a bittersweet few days.Hours before his new deal with the Jazz was made public, he watched his son, Tyrell, play his final high-school game. One of the top players in the state on Utah, he finished with 22 points, six assists and six steals in West High's 45-43 loss to Fremont on the Class 5-A quarterfinals.Corbin missed a shot going to the basket at the buzzer that would have forced overtime."Tough loss for them," Tyrone Corbin said. "They played hard and he missed a layup at the end. We feel really bad about that. ... We were watching highlights on the news and he said, 'I didn't realize I was that open.' But he was going full speed and it was a tough shot."What did he tell his son, who will now focus on picking a college?"You have to grow from it," Corbin said.
