The Utah Pride Center is calling for nominations for two annual awards to be bestowed at the 2011 Utah Pride Festival. (The theme for the festival is "Live. Love. Pride.")

The Dr. Kristen Ries Community Service Award recognizes "outstanding service" to Utah's lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community. Past recipients include Rep. Jackie Biskupski, D-Salt Lake City; Stan Penfold, director of the Utah Aids Foundation; and entertainer Walter Larrabee.

The Pete Suazo Political Action Award recognizes an elected Utah official who has demonstrated an "exceptional commitment to equal rights." Past honorees include former Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr., former Salt Lake City Mayor Rocky Anderson and Attorney General Mark Shurtleff.

Nominations for both awards are due 5 p.m., April 21. Describe why you think the individual nominated deserves the award in 100 words or more. Name and contact information for the person submitting the nomination must be included.Send nominations to nominations@utahpridecenter.org or mail to:
