Seven people are facing felony charges in connection with a fight that involved baseball bats, a knife and a crescent wrench at a birthday party.

On March 20, a woman told Murray police she removed two women from her house where a birthday was being celebrated after they accused her 13-year-old son of stealing alcohol. Then ,one of the women hit him in the face, charging documents said. The two told the woman they would be back with some friends to beat them up.

About 20 minutes later, the women returned to the home in the 200 East block of 5900 South in Murray, with about 10 to 15 men, charging documents state. A fight ensued between the homeowner and one of the women who she had kicked out. Two other people then joined the fight against the homeowner.

A man inside the house and the 13-year-old came outside the house when they heard the fighting. Charging documents say they saw five men armed with bats, a semi-automatic pistol and a crescent wrench. The men attacked both of them, but the 13-year-old was able to run back into the house. Five of the men followed the boy inside the house, broke a door to get to him and hit him with the bats and fists, charging documents state.

The 13-year-old suffered "significant injuries" to his face and chest, charging documents say. The family's pet dog was hit with the baseball bats by two of the men when it started to bite one of them.

Charges filed against the seven people include aggravated burglary, child abuse, aggravated assault, riot and cruelty to an animal.
