Talk about an embarrassment of riches: Bingham's girls' golf already featured sophomore star Sirene Blair, who won the last individual state title.

Blair was transcendent again Wednesday at Glenmoor Golf Course, but freshman Sam Crawford also turned some heads and helped put together a special run.

The Miners' youth movement had excellent outings, pushing Bingham to its second straight Class 5A team championship. And with the way Blair — who also repeated as the individual champ — and Crawford have been playing, it's likely the start of a dynasty.

"I think it could be," said Crawford, who shot 83 on the day for fourth place overall. "Sirene is such a great golfer, and I'm just glad I could support the team today. If our team keeps playing well, we could win more."

It starts with Blair, who had close pursuers but was characteristically untouchable, shooting a 68. Her drives soared, and her approaches seemed to always roll to the right place. The phenomenon's highlight was an eagle on No. 5, which is a par-5 hole.

Blair was slightly miffed that she didn't match her score of 67 last year, but she wasn't about to turn up her nose at a personal and team championship.

"I think I just played my game today," she said. "I know pretty well what I do best, and I didn't pressure myself or anything."

Weber's Tara Green, who was the 2009 state titlist, provided Blair's stiffest challenge, trailing a stroke or two for most of the day. And although the senior birdied the final hole of her high school career, she finished five strokes back at 73 for second place — again nothing to sniff at.

Alta's Hannah Herman rounded out 5A's top trio, shooting an 82.

The three golfers play often in year-round competitions, so for seniors Herman and Green, it was a fine sendoff.

"It felt really good to go out strong on my last hole in my last tournament," said Green, who will play at the University of Montana. "We've all played a lot together and evolved together. It's always fun playing with those girls."

The schools followed the pattern of their lead golfers, with Weber finishing second and Alta finishing third.

Bingham might not have even earned its nine-stroke lead without a breakout performance from Crawford.

The freshman didn't melt on one of the biggest stages on which she's ever played. She really started feeling a groove at the start of the back nine, she said, when she parred four holes in a row.
