Flood warnings have been issued for the south fork of the Ogden River from Causey Reservoir to Pineview Reservoir; the Weber River from the mouth of Weber Canyon downstream to the Great Salt Lake, including the town of Plain City; the Little Bear River in Cache County, near the town of Paradise; and Lost Creek, in northeastern Morgan County.
The south fork of the Ogden River is forecast to remain above flood stage through Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service in Salt Lake City. Low-lying areas near the banks of the river below Causey Reservoir and through the town of Huntsville will experience flooding, which will impact campgrounds, farms and summer homes along the river, the Weather Service reports.
The Weber River is expected to exceed flood stage by Tuesday afternoon and remain above flood stage through Friday. The high water could damage the levee system protecting property near Plain City.
The Little Bear River is forecast to exceed flood stage Tuesday morning, peak in the early afternoon and then recede below flood stage by this evening. Flooding can be expected along farmland and low-lying areas adjacent to the river near Paradise, the Weather Service reports.
A flood warning was also issued Tuesday for Lost Creek, in northeastern Morgan County, from Lost Creek Dam to the confluence with the Weber River.
The flooding will impact low-lying fields and roads, and the bridge on Lost Creek Road, near the confluence of Lost Creek and the Weber River, will be flooded, the Weather Service reported.
A flood warning means flooding is occurring or is imminent.
Since most flood-related deaths occur in automobiles, the Weather Service warns against attempting to cross water-covered bridges, dips or low-water crossings.
