A leading light in live theater in Utah is taking on a national role.

Philip Himberg, producing artistic director of the Sundance Institute's Theater Program, has been chosen as board president of Theater Communications Group, the national theater organization, Broadway World reported.

"It is a privilege to continue to serve the American theatre field, as President of TCG, an organization that provided me my first grant as a young artistic director in the 1970's, and helped to launch my own career path," Himberg said in a statement.

The 50-year-old organization promotes not-for-profit theater in the United States, providing grants to theaters and artists, and advocating for theater on the federal level.
