With most of camp behind them, the Utes held a state of the team meeting Tuesday night in which Utah coach Kyle Whittingham and the coordinators addressed the team and assessed how the team's development is going. No surprise, the coaches are happy with the defense and are more critical of the offense. "Defensively we are on track," Whittingham said. "We've done a lot of good things, particularly the secondary. That has been a pleasant surprise, the way the secondary has performed through the first half of camp. We felt all along the line was strong and it has been. Offensively we have a ways to go. I'd say we are a little behind, offensively, but we still have a couple weeks." Part of Utah's struggles on offense relate to the injuries on the offensive line. The Utes hope to get Sam Brenner back by the end of the week while others, including Isaac Asiata and Percy Taumoelau back in another week or so. Whittingham also hinted for the first time that the limited availability of quarterback Jordan Wynn could be hurting the development. Wynn, who missed Wednesday morning's session with the flu, has been limited to about 70 throws in practices. He has missed some situational drills and often doesn't throw in the second session of two-a-days. "We need to get Jordan practicing sooner rather than later but that is a trainer decision," Whittingham said. "That will give us more continuity, getting him in on a daily basis rather than a sporadic basis like we've been getting."
