And you thought Derrick Favors could fly.

How about the kid in Favors' No. 15 Utah Jazz jersey, who athletically soared on a BMX bike over dirt jumps and into the BMX dirt finals Saturday at the Dew Tour?

It would have been tough not to pick out Colton Satterfield in the dirt semifinals Friday at the dirt jumps as the one local competitor. The 21-year-old from Orem represented for his favorite team and, along the way, completed one of the best runs of his career.

"It's so hard to make a final in the Dew Tour," Satterfield said, "so I simply had to."

Satterfield landed a 360 degree backflip on the first jump and followed it up with a double tailwhip and, on the final set of jumps, a 360 tailwhip. Judges gave Satterfield a 90, while British rider Ben Wallace qualified first.

And Satterfield, who entered Friday's semis ranked eighth of 26 in the Dew Tour standings, wasn't about to miss finals in front of a supportive home crowd.

"I would say just make the final is a big deal," Satterfield said.

Satterfield grew up in Idaho, but spent weekends coming to Salt Lake City to partake in its active BMX scene. In his third year on the Dew Tour circuit, Satterfield is having his best season.

Satterfield's first trick, the 360 backflip, caught the attention of other riders. It's a big trick and tough to pull off without building more speed. Satterfield thought he was just the second rider to pull it off on the first jump of a dirt competition.

Earlier this summer Satterfield won the Air In The Square Megaramp ASA Triples, a star-loaded contest at Madison Square Garden in New York City. He's still looking for his first Dew Tour win, though.

And Satterfield, who also competed in BMX vert, thinks he has something of a home-field advantage.

"I think being at home makes you more comfortable," he said.

Of course, he has to overcome the four riders who qualified into finals ahead of him Friday, and the three who automatically qualified based on their performances in the first two stops of the Dew Tour.

Idaho Falls native Josh Hult qualified fourth with a 90.63.
