It has been a long time since Utah was handled at home as easily as it was Saturday night.

Crimson Court, usually a fortress for the Utes, was all blue as the Brigham Young women's volleyball team dominated every phase of play, sweeping to a 25-20, 25-17, 25-14 finale of the Ute Invitational.

Utah coach Beth Launiere did not mince words in summing up the Cougars' performance.

"They were a well-oiled machine," she said. "This was about their execution at a high level."

BYU (9-2) had lost six consecutive matches to Utah (5-4), and had not won on Crimson Court since 2007.

"A long time," said BYU's first-year head coach Shawn Olmstead, vaulting off his seat the entire match as he passionately implored his team forward. "These kids wanted it. We just put them in position to win."

For the match, BYU's hitting percentage wasn't eye popping, .297. But the Utes were held to stingy .093.

Nicole Warner had nine of the Cougars' 21 block assists. Meanwhile, BYU opposite, Jennifer Hamson led both teams with 15 kills. Morgan Odale had 10 for Utah
