The football-playing Cougars will kick off against San Jose State in a couple hours, but there's some basketball news to pass along. BYU basketball coach Dave Rose has received a commitment from one of the top juniors in the state of Idaho. Six-foot-8 power forward Braiden Shaw of Eagle H.S. in Eagle, Idaho, has committed to the Cougars. Shaw is a member of the class of 2013, just like Lone Peak's Nick Emery, who committed to BYU earlier this year. Shaw committed to BYU today during an unofficial visit. He will go on an LDS Church mission before enrolling at the school. Shaw averaged 11 points and eight rebounds a game last year at Eagle. He was drawing interest from Boise State, Utah State and Utah.
