Two people were hospitalized after a TRAX train crashed into a sedan at 700 South and West Temple on Wednesday afternoon.

A 14-year-old girl and a 32-year-old woman were in serious condition after the incident, which occurred shortly after 5 p.m., Salt Lake City police Lt. Robin Heiden said. No one on the train was injured.

The TRAX train struck the driver's side of the car as it was crossing the tracks headed north on West Temple.

Utah Transit Authority reported delays for several hours in the TRAX system due to the incident. UTA said it was busing passengers to get them around the crash.

An investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
