The 4th annual Utah Snow and Avalanche Workshop will be Nov. 5 from 1 to 5 p.m. at The Depot, 400 W. South Temple, in Salt Lake City . The workshop is modeled after the International Snow Science Workshop and provides a venue for experienced skiers, snowmobilers and avalanche professionals to get together and dig deeper into the mystery of avalanches.

Learn snow science from the pros and each other, and reconstruct a few close calls from last season to discuss what can be learned from those experiences.

Presenters include Jim Steenburgh of the University of Utah Department of Atmospheric Sciences, Zach Guy, Ron Siminhois, Kim Hall, Jewel Lund, Jimmy Collinson and Ian McCammon. Mark Greenwood, Dustin Butcher and Patrick Grewe will reconstruct the deadly accident that occurred last season on Horseshoe Mountain, on central Utah's Manti Skyline.

The event will be followed by an hour-long social at The Blue Goose in The Depot. Admission to the entire day's event costs $25. Visit http://www.utahavalanchecenter.org for more information and to purchase tickets.
