Two Utahns will be among eight skiing greats who will be inducted into the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame in April.

Joe Pack, a Park City resident who won a silver medal in freestyle aerials at the 2002 Winter Olympics, and the late Nick Badami, who owned Park City Mountain Resort and was a key figure in Salt Lake City's Olympic efforts, will enter the Ishpeming, Mich.-based Hall of Fame in an April 14 induction ceremony.

Other inductees are racers Eva Twardokens and Tyler Palmer, resort developer Phil Gravink, ski historian Mason Beekley, speed skier and author Dick Dorworth and ski show pioneer Harry Leonard.

"Our eight inductees represent a diverse cross section of some of the greatest figures in skiing whose passion for the sport was shown throughout their careers," said Hall of Fame Chairman Bernie Weichsel.

Pack was a hometown hero of the 2002 Olympics. Pack thrilled the local crowd when he won his medal at Deer Valley Resort. During his career, he won three World Cup competitions

Badami spent four decades in the ski industry, beginning at the age of 49 to support his son, Craig, a passionate skier before his death in a helicopter crash.

Badami bought Alpine Meadows Ski Resort and later Park City before becoming chairman of Powdr Corp. He was a longtime member of the National Ski Areas Association board, serving as its chairman in 1984, and also was a trustee for Salt Lake's Olympic bid and organizing committees. He died in 2008.
