Mountain America Credit Union has announced it is expanding its operations into southeastern Idaho.

The West Jordan-based credit union said it will open its first branch at 152 Bullock St. in Chubbuck on Dec. 5. A second branch is set to open Dec 12 at 3202 S. 25th East in Idaho Falls.

"We're excited to have an official presence in southeastern Idaho," said Jason Rogers, Mountain America's senior vice president of branch administration.

He said the credit union already serves a large number of members in the area and that the new branches will allow it to better meet their needs.

The new locations also will give Mountain America a chance to show potential members a range of services it has to offer, Rogers said, including real estate and business loans.

Mountain America already operates 65 branches in Utah, Nevada, Arizona and New Mexico.

Mountain America Credit Union, which as $2.7 billion in assets and more than 341,000 members, was founded in 1934 as the Salt Lake Telephone Employees Credit Union.
