Sandy • There's Snow on Top of the Mountains again this year.

Snow College's defense forced four turnovers and running back Breon Allen scored three touchdowns as the Badgers won their third consecutive Top of the Mountains Bowl, 36-9 against Eastern Arizona on Saturday.

The Badgers (9-3) avenged a 41-14 defeat against the Gila Monsters (8-4) from October. In that game, Eastern Arizona racked up more than 400 yards of offense. Saturday, the Badgers defense dominated on a brisk and windy afternoon.

Snow made 12 tackles for loss, recovered three of Eastern Arizona's eight fumbles, and surrendered just 257 total yards.

"We knew we had to stop the run," said Snow defensive lineman John Mahe, a Copper Hills graduate. "They have the No. 1 run game in the country. We were able to shut that down today."

Allen scored on runs of 19, 2 and 72 yards — the latter icing the victory in the final minutes.

"This was a statement game," said Allen, a freshman who rushed for 141 yards on 14 carries. "It was more of a moral victory that a revenge victory. Our defense had awesome preparation all week, and we did it."

Allen's 2-yard touchdown run was the highlight of the game. He started left, reversed field, slid out of the grasp of defender Okoye Bozeman, then sprinted to the pylon.

The Gila Monsters' nine points were the second fewest scored in the bowls' eight years of existence. Snow held Rochester College to seven points in the bowl's inaugural game in 2004, the first of Snow's six Top of the Mountains victories, and improved to 13-4 all-time in postseason play.

Snow rushed for 229 yards, despite having the ball for just more than 20 of the game's 60 minutes. —
