The BYU basketball team will take a break from finals tonight and take part in the annual Children with Cancer Christmas Foundation party. The players interact with children stricken with cancer by playing games and singing Christmas carols with the youngsters and their families. The 12th-annual party will be at the Vivint Gym in Orem and begins at 6 p.m. To donate or learn more about this praiseworthy event and cause, go here. BYU coach Dave Rose said on his radio show Tuesday night that forward Chris Collinsworth's exploratory surgery went well and that Collinsworth will be out between 3-6 weeks. Collinsworth put his recovery time at more than six weeks in a tweet later that night, but the apparent good news is that the sophomore will return for at least a portion of the season, if all goes well. There is some bad news for the BYU basketball family, however. Cory Calvert, a 6-foot-3 guard at Colorado's Chaparral High who signed with BYU last month, will miss four to six weeks due to a hairline fracture in his right wrist, according to the Denver Post. Calvert is averaging 27.8 points per game, most in Colorado 5A basketball. He was apparently injured last Friday during a collision near the basket. The BYU-bound star also suffered a cut on his chin that required six stitches to close.
