Offensive coordinator Ty Detmer will apparently have another nephew playing quarterback for BYU in the near future.

Zadock Dinkelmann, a rising senior quarterback from San Antonio, Texas, committed to play for BYU on Monday. The class of 2018 prospect is 6-foot-4 and 215 pounds. He committed to LSU while in the eighth grade, but decommitted from the Tigers in January.

"Recruiting process is over!" Dinkelmann tweeted Monday. "Blessed to say I have committed to Brigham Young University!"

Dinkelmann's mother is Ty Detmer's sister, Dee. BYU redshirt sophomore quarterback Koy Detmer Jr. is the son of Ty Detmer's brother, Koy.

The Detmer's father, Sonny Detmer, is Zadock Dinkelmann's head coach at Somerset High School in the San Antonio area.

Some recruiting websites have Dinkelmann listed as a four-star recruit; others have him as a three-star.

The Cougars are also heavily pursuing another top QB from the 2018 class, Tanner McKee of Centennial High in Corona, Calif. The 6-foot-6 McKee has said he will serve a church mission before enrolling, while the Dinkelmann is not LDS and will enroll at BYU next summer.

BYU coach Kalani Sitake now has 10 commitments from the class of 2018. Four other prospects that committed to BYU at one time have recommitted since then, but still include BYU among their possible schools. That list includes California lineman Tyler Manoa, Kahuku (Hawaii) punter Sekope Latu, Olympus (SLC) defensive end Cameron Latu and Brandon Kaho, a linebacker from Reno, Nev. Kaho, a four-star prospect, has not officially decommitted from BYU, but is counted as such for our purposes here because he has taken visits to other schools since committing to BYU.
