Tenney's Pizza in Sandy might want to consider shortening the time for its "26-inch pizza challenge," at least where Eric "Silo" Dahl is concerned.
Dahl had one hour to consume Tenney's 3 and 1/3-pound pepperoni pizza.
Not one to linger on the clock, he ingested all 48 ounces of its dough, a full 24 ounces of cheese plus 15 ounces of sauce and 6 ounces of pepperoni in 11 minutes and 19.9 seconds.
That impressive time makes Dahl, whom the National Collegiate Competitive Eating Association ranks as the nation's top student eater, the first winner of the restaurant's pizza-eating challenge. Dahl, who studies computer engineering at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, completed the challenge on Dec. 28 at Tenney's.
"It was delicious," said Dahl. "I started off a little too early because I burnt my mouth a little bit, but it was really good. ... I got a good night's sleep in that night, but I didn't eat until about 6 p.m. the following night. I tapered down the calories the following days after as well."

A native of Dlano, Minn., Dahl was in Salt Lake City visiting friends and skiing over the holidays.
"I like to take advantage of all the traveling opportunities I can get," he said.
Tenney's offers $100 and a free pizza to anyone who can eat one of its 26-inch pizzas in one hour or less. Anyone can enter to eat, but the restaurant requires one day's notice from participants.
