House District 74 (Washington County)

V. Lowry Snow

Occupation • Attorney

Education • B.S., Brigham Young University; J.D., Gonzaga University

Bio • Snow is the founding partner of the St. George law firm of Snow Jensen & Reece, where he practices real estate law, land-use planning and telecommunications law. He is a past president of the Utah Bar Association and chairman of the Judicial Performance Evaluation Commission.

Priorities • Supporting Dixie State College, state control over public lands and studying the proposed Lake Powell pipeline.

Replaces • Rep. David Clark (resigned to run for Congress)

House District 17 (Fruit Heights)

Stewart Barlow

Occupation • Doctor

Education • B.S., University of Utah; M.D., Georgetown University

Bio • An ear, nose and throat doctor, Barlow won his election by a single delegate vote. He is a past president of the Utah Medical Association. Barlow is the son of longtime state Sen. Haven Barlow.

Priorities • Reforming the health-care system, including Medicaid; expediting the northern extension of Legacy Highway.

Replaces • Rep. Julie Fisher (resigned to work in Gov. Gary Herbert's administration)

House District 30 (Salt Lake City)

Brian Doughty

Occupation • Owns ACME material handling (sells racks and shelving)

Education • B.B.A., Texas Tech University, marketing

Bio • Doughty served on the board of Equality Utah and the Eastside Community Council. He is currently the only openly gay legislator. During redistricting, his district was absorbed into the one held by House Minority Leader David Litvack.

Priorities • Has introduced legislation to require the state's public-employee health insurance to cover domestic partners.

Replaces • Rep. Jackie Biskupski (resigned for personal reasons)

House District 57 (Pleasant Grove)

Craig Frank

Occupation • n/a

Education • B.S., Brigham Young University, marketing

Bio • Frank was appointed to the Legislature in 2003 and served in the body until last year, when he was removed from office after it was discovered he didn't live in his district. He was a co-founder of the House Conservative Caucus and the Patrick Henry Caucus, which focused on states' rights.

Priorities • As a lawmaker, Frank sponsored election-law reforms, supported gun bills and opposed taxes.

Replaces • Rep. Holly Richardson (resigned to work on former State Sen. Dan Liljenquist's U.S. Senate campaign)

Senate District 23 (Bountiful)

Todd Weiler

Occupation • Attorney

Education • J.D., Brigham Young University

Bio • Weiler is the vice president and counsel to Losgistics Specialists, a defense consulting firm. He has been a member of the Woods Cross City Council and the Davis County Chamber of Commerce and was vice chairman of the Utah Republican Party.

Priorities • Transparency in government, low taxes and school choice.

Replaces • Sen. Dan Liljenquist (resigned to run for U.S. Senate)

Senate District 28 (Cedar City)

Casey Anderson

Education • B.S., psychology, Southern Utah University; M.S., forensic science, SUU.

Bio • When Anderson was elected last year, it is believed that, at age 25, he became the youngest state senator. He was a regional coordinator for the Campaign For Liberty, an organization founded by Rep. Ron Paul focused on limited government.

Priorities • States' rights (Anderson wants to exempt Utah agriculture products from federal regulation); pushing for significant changes to Utah's tax code.

Replaces • Sen. Dennis Stowell (deceased)

Senate District 10 (South Jordan)

Aaron Osmond

Occupation • CEO of Real Estate Investor Education

Education • B.S., business management, University of Phoenix

Bio • As chairman of the Senate Education Committee, Osmond has spent the past several months meeting with education interests to cobble together a package of education reform bills. He said he supports local decisionmaking and innovation in education.

Replaces • Sen. Chris Buttars (retired)

House District 52 (Riverton)

Dan McCay

Occupation • Real estate attorney

Education • B.S., education, Utah State University; Masters, Education, USU; J.D. Willamette University

Bio • McCay spent 2 1/2 years teaching in a private school before enrolling in law school. He practices real estate law and is the state coordinator for the conservative Washington-based group FreedomWorks.

Priorities • Education and Medicaid

Replaces • Rep. Carl Wimmer, (resigned to run for U.S. House)
