The MountainWest Capital Network (MWCN) will honor Josh James as its 2012 Entrepreneur of the Year at a luncheon and awards ceremony later this month.
The theme on Feb. 21 will be "Lightning Does Strike Twice." In 1996, James co-founded Omniture Inc., a Web analytics business that went public in 2006. According to MWCN, James held the distinction of being the youngest CEO to direct a publicly traded company, from 2006 to 2009.
In October 2009, James' facilitated the $1.8 billion acquisition of Omniture by Adobe Systems Inc. After leaving Adobe, James founded the Lindon-based Domo Inc., a start-up designed to provide instant data to companies by way of an online dashboard.
Last July, Domo obtained $43 milllion in funding from California-based Institutional Venture Partners, a firm that backed the young company with another $20 million last month. IVP had previously invested in Omniture, which MWCN reported as the number one-returning venture investment in 2004.
MWCN, which describes itself as a "business networking organization devoted to supporting entrepreneurial success," will present its event at Salt Lake City's Little America Hotel, 500 S. Main St. An 11 a.m. reception will be followed by lunch and the awards ceremony, from noon to 1:30 p.m. Admission is free for MWCN members, while individual seats cost $55 or $400 for a table of eight. Reservations are required. Contact Cheri Farnsworth at 801-966-1430 or go to tinyurl.com/mwcnreserve.
