The Marriott Downtown hotel in Salt Lake City is getting a new name to reflect its location adjoining the City Creek Center.
Its new name, as of Wednesday, will be the "Salt Lake Marriott Downtown at City Creek."
The hotel is located at 75 S. West Temple.
"Our hotel has been in this location more than 31 years, having opened Oct. 15, 1981," said Steve Lundgren, general manager.
The hotel attracts more than 150,000 overnight visitors and tens of thousands of day visitors annually who shop and dine downtown, Lundgren said. "With the opening of City Creek Center we expect that together, we will create great synergy for an increase in visitors to the downtown area."
Linda Wardel, general manager for the center, estimates as much as 40 percent of the new shopping center's retail sales will come from visitors from more than 50 miles away. "The Marriott Downtown at City Creek is a key part of the tourism offering at City Creek Center," she said.
