Take a look at the construction of City Creek Center — the LDS Church's $2 billion retail, residential and office investment hugging Temple Square. It is considered one of the nation's largest commercial projects, and it is the only large shopping center set to open in 2012.

Literally bridging two city blocks across Main Street, City Creek has carved stone, a custom creek, retractable glass skylights — oh, and 90 mostly high-end shops.

The 700,000-square-foot showcase, anchored by Nordstrom and Macy's, also has office buildings, residential towers and an amenity-stuffed Harmon's grocery store, which has already been a hit since opening in mid-February.
